Resident Evil Village's scriptwriter, Antony Johnston, has revealed on Instagram that Lady Dimitrescu is gay, noting that "the only thing about men that makes Lady D horny is their blood".

It seems like a lifetime ago that Resident Evil Village's first major boss, Lady Dimitrescu, burst on the scene and completely took over the game's marketing, sending everyone on the internet into a thirsting frenzy. Seriously, Capcom was giving away life-sized towels of her at one point, that's how big of a deal she was. Oh, to go back to simpler times.

It seems that some of the fanbase might have been barking up the wrong tree, however, as Resident Evil Village's scriptwriter has confirmed in an Instagram post that Lady Dimitrescu is gay, something that's not really talked about it in the game, likely because there's not too much time to focus on her love life while she's cutting off Ethan Winters' hand and trying to suck his blood.

Despite never being mentioned, fans have been headcanoning Lady Dimitrescu being gay for as long as she's been around. Some of the big bits of evidence backing this up include her outright stating that she hates men (including Ethan), her castle being littered with statues of naked women in sexual positions, and the castle itself only being staffed and inhabited by women, something that had to have been a purposeful decision from Lady Dimitrescu.

Combine all that together and it's pretty clear that Lady D was written as gay, something that's now been confirmed. Responding to a feature from Pink News highlighting nine lesbians in gaming who changed the industry for Lesbian Visibility Week, Antony Johnston, Village's scriptwriter, confirmed Lady Dimitrescu is gay. Johnston said, "I can’t speak for everyone else at Capcom, obv, but as far as I’m concerned the only thing about men that makes Lady D horny is their blood".

As you can imagine, the comments underneath Johnston's post are mostly incredibly positive, with one Instagram user saying, "WE WON! BIG W FOR THE LESBIANS!!!!!", and another writing, "9.9 MOTHERQUAKE OFF THE CHARTS". Exactly the reaction you should have to gaming's biggest queen finally being confirmed as a lesbian.

Lady Dimistrecu in Resident Evil Village

As noted by Johnston, Lady Dimitrescu being gay doesn't come from Capcom itself and isn't mentioned within Village, but considering it's coming from the game's scriptwriter, who would have put together the game's story and all of its characters, and the mountain of evidence and subtext that's basically screaming it at you in the game, it can certainly be taken as canon.
