Capcom's Street Fighter 6 showcase has ended with a big surprise: PlayStation 4 and 5 fighters can download the Street Fighter 6 demo right now. Xbox and PC platforms will have to wait until next week to try Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode and its extensive avatar creator.

The demo will feature just one of Street Fighter 6's three modes: World Tour. This is where you'll make your own custom character to learn martial arts from Street Fighter legends. World Tour's extensive character creator allows you to design your perfect fighter and then dress them however you like, starting from Metro City under Luke's tutelage before jet-setting all over the globe. You'll need to pick up some odd jobs to keep your coffers full (international flights don't come cheap, after all), and you'll also need to contend with a weird gang of box-wearing hooligans too.

You'll also have to contend with Bosh, your rival and classmate. He comes at you like a bead necklace and sneaker-wearing ninja. There's also Li-Fen, Chun-Li's adoptive daughter, and another newcomer that will help you on your journey.

World Tour mode tells an entirely new story, but to learn more about the ongoing Street Fighter saga, you'll have to wait for the game's release later in June. Arcade mode returns in Street Fighter 6's Fighting Grounds alongside all the game modes you've come to expect from a Street Fighter game, like online ranked and casual matches and an extensive tutorial.

It looks like you'll be able to download both World Tour and Fighting Grounds separately once Street Fighter 6 releases. That's according to the Microsoft and Xbox store pages, which list each as separate apps. You'll still need to purchase the full game to download either, of course, but at least you'll be able to save a few gigabytes of storage space by avoiding the stuff from Street Fighter that you don't necessarily want.

Elsewhere in today's presentation, we found out Capcom's plans for the first year of DLC characters. First up, fan-favorite Rashid returns to Street Fighter 6 sometime this summer, while the terrifying A.K.I arrives in autumn. Ed strikes this winter after New Year's, while Akuma arrives in the spring of 2024.

All this is way down the line, of course. For now, PlayStation players can check out the World Tour demo, while Xbox and PC players can get on the demo as of April 26. Street Fighter 6 arrives on all platforms June 2.
