Much like its predecessor, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features a unique horse once under the ownership of Princess Zelda. With a bit of soul-searching and a lot of shaking snow from your boots, you can scout out Hyrule's most unique horse and ride them as your own.
Much like the preceding White Horse, the Golden Horse looks as mystical as it sounds, but beyond its appearance, it is easily the equine with the best stats in the game. With superior strength and speed and a snazzy tack set, you won't want to miss out on this one-of-a-kind steed.
Getting Started: Princess Sightings
To open the possibility of this quest, you'll need to first activate the hub quest: "Princess Sightings."
Travel to the Lucky Clover Gazette just east of the Rito Village in the far northwestern corner of your map. Here, you'll encounter a few familiar faces.
Talking to Traysi and Penn will get you hired on as a newspaper reporter. In return for chasing down leads in your search for Zelda, you'll be able to get your mitts on some Froggy Armor and the rewards for each quest completed at the various stables across Hyrule.
However, the lead we're interested in is northeast in the Tabantha snowfields. Travel northeast to the Snowfield Stable.
The Orochium Shrine is nearby. It's recommended to challenge it for teleportation purposes.
Additionally, you may want to help the nearby Hudson Construction employee with the sign for some rupees and a hot meal to help against the cold.
On the right side of the outside of the stable, you'll see Penn speaking with the stablehand, Harlow. Speak with them to begin the quest for the Golden Horse.
Before continuing, you may wish to cook some stamina-replenishing meals if you haven't upgraded your stamina vessel at least one-to-two times.
Finding The Golden Horse
Following Harlow's directions, travel north (just right and ahead from where you spoke with Harlow) through the snowfields and ruins.
There is a Frost Gleeok in between you and the Golden Horse. Upon seeing it, you may want to give it a wide berth. It is not recommended to take this fight on unless you have enough high-level fire equipment.
Eventually, the Golden Horse will be found in a herd among some ruins. You'll need to sneak up on it and jump on to begin trying to tame it.
Mash L until the horse calms, and you'll be able to ride it back to Snowfield Stable.
If you haven't defeated the Frost Gleeok, ensure you definitely keep your distance here. The last thing you want is for the Golden Horse to die to a frosty laser beam on the way back.
Speak with Penn and Harlow to complete this quest, granting you the ability to keep the Golden Horse.
Once you're free to wander around, take the Golden Horse to the owner of the stable at the counter to register them. You'll be able to board and name this horse and be given the Royal equipment set to customize them with.
