The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a bunch of quests for you to do, and some of these can be found organically while exploring the game’s world. There is one quest that begins with your curiosity getting the best of you, as you leap inside of the Riverside Stable Well. You meet Fera, a fellow ‘well enthusiast.’ Fera tells you about the fulfilling life of well-dwellers, looking for ancient texts and glorious loot.

Then, a quest begins, and each well you encounter will have a story to tell. There are a total of 58 wells in the game, so it will take a while before you find your favorite.

8 Snowfield Stable Well

The Snowfield Stable Well is one of the simplest to find, and yet one of the most enigmatic wells in the whole game. This is a place that you immediately fall for as soon as you drop down into it.

The well has a luminescent glow to it, with many small fairies just floating about. This gives the Snowfield Stable such an interesting color tone, despite just being one room with a small pond and some ore farming. Not to mention, it’s just sparklingly pretty!

7 Hyrule Castle Town Ruins Well

This is one of the earliest wells you will encounter in the game, featuring a staunch and simple design with a lot of navigation through water. Your main objective here is to collect a bunch of Glowing Cave Fish, but you also get a Halberd as a reward.

Other than that, there are some treacherous Horriblins lurking about this cave, which can be quite easy to one-shot if they’re on the ceiling. This cave was essentially your introduction to how creative and unique each one would be, and boy did Nintendo deliver!

6 Kara Kara Bazaar Well

This is a mysterious well, one that has a ladder leading down into it but confusion as soon as you land within it. It’s hard to understand anything about this well, but there are blue rocks that you need to burst through in order to find out.

Exploring this cave is almost as if you’re venturing into the heart of the Kara Kara Bazaar. Let’s keep everything through that pile of blue rocks a secret, though, because it’s going to be an interesting experience for sure.

5 Carok Bridge Well

The Carok Bridge Well has a story to tell, located within Central Hyrule, as you plunge within this well, you will encounter an extremely beautiful moment. It’s a perfectly set table, with a Brightbloom in a pot next to it. Next to the table is a cooking pot, while on top of the table is a book.

This is Chef Aurie Taamu’s notebook, detailing their love for cooking. It chronicles a story about how the Upheaval sparked their curiosity once more. Now, Chef Aurie Taamu was perusing caverns, wells and all sorts of places in search of new and exciting ingredients to use in their cooking!

4 Rowan Plain Well

You will most likely jump into Rowan Plain well thinking it's just another one to check off on the list of Fera’s well-diving quest. However, that’s not the case. This well hides a chasm, which will take you deep into the depths. Specifically, it will bring you to the Uoyoyuik Lightroot. It’ll require some pro-level gameplay with the Brightbloom Seeds to get out of here, though.

This well was interesting, because if you're not into side quests but exploring organically, it might be your first interaction with the depths. It brings you into an unknown realm that you never expected to come to before, and since it’s situated between the Great Hyrule Forest and the Hebra Mountain regions, it’s very easy to run into.

3 The Blocked Well

This is a well that you’ll find yourself in through a side quest with Penn, the infamous flying reporter for the Hyrule Newspaper. The Blocked well is phenomenally designed; it’s essentially a gauntlet chock full of enemies.

If you want to jump in for some of the most action-packed well diving, this is the one for you. It packs a punch with its Lizalfos enemies. You also encounter a Black Lizalfos here, which gives you the ability to craft some awesome weapons with Fuse.

2 Elma Knolls Well

This well looks normal at first sight, but within it is a deep and dark cave that is full of combat, secrets and a whole lot of exploration. The Elma Knolls Well is fantastic, giving you a little bit of everything; you can explore its deep-rooted design or simply head for the Shrine that you can see located at the top.

This is a hidden shrine named Tenmaten Shrine, which gives you a Blessing of Light to increase your stamina or health. It’s also a great surprise to jump into it, and immediately have no idea what to expect. The dark cave is not really in the depths, but it might as well be with its open design and plethora of mining opportunities.

1 Zelda’s Secret Well

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - Zelda’s Secret Well

Zelda's Secret Well is easy to spot; it’s located right behind Link's House in Hateno Village. This is a water-filled area, and it contains a bunch of simple furnishings. It’s a place where Zelda and Link would regularly hang out, and this is why it’s the most magical and interesting well in the game.

You can find Zelda’s Diary here on a small desk, along with a ton of books and scrolls. Link must be a great artist, because there are a few paintings of the Hateno Village, Zelda and more. This is the place where you find out how much Link really cares about Zelda. If that’s not interesting enough, you can find the Well-Worn Hair Band here too, which allows Link to wear his hair as he did in Breath of the Wild.
