The Sims has always been a franchise about expression, and when The Sims 4: High School Years expansion launched, it came with yet another aspect of puberty stretching teens into adults that players were missing – body hair. No more will you have silky-smooth Sims by default, as randomized Sim creation now factors body hair into its design as well.

7 How To Add Body Hair And Facial Hair To Sims

Adding body hair is easy, if you know where to find the option. First, you'll have to go to the Simology menu in the lower-right corner of the screen during gameplay to enter Create-a-Sim, if you're making a new Sim from scratch, you can skip this step.

In the full body options when editing a Sim, go to the Body tab, and you'll be able to add arm hair, torso hair, back hair, and leg hair. Depending on your Sims gender, you'll also be able to add facial hair in the head options in Create-a-Sim. Thankfully, this is all part of the base game.

You can choose how much hair your Sim will have on their body and face, just like you would with regular hair in-game. There are several body hair options that differ in the body area it covers, and how thick it is. Facial hair has received the highest number of additions, offering more beard and mustache combos than ever.

Changing your preferred hair option will reset the Sim's current hair growth, so be aware of this if you decide to change it up a little. If you have the High School Years expansion pack, you'll also be able to enable hair growth.

5 Color Customization

Just like the fun combinations you could make with head hair, you've now got several different color options for hair added in the Sims 4 body hair update, too. Like always, there's still the option to have your Sim's body hair match the color of their head hair (the same as it was for eyebrows before the body hair update), but adventurous creators have free control here, too.

There are roughly two dozen body and facial hair color options, so your Sim can be as colorful as you'd like them to be.

4 Shaving It Off

With the High School Years expansion pack, you'll be able to shave your body hair. If the Sims 4 body hair growth is enabled, it'll eventually grow back, too, so you can make shaving part of your Sim's self-care routine.

Body hair needs to be shaved in the tub or shower by selectin the "Shave..." option, allowing you to reset it to your preferred length or shave it off completely. Meanwhile, facial hair can be shaved in mirrors of any size - wall mirrors and full-body standing mirrors do the job the same.

3 After Shaving, Hair May Grow Back

Once you shave, as long as you have enabled hair growth, it will grow back in a short time. For example, even if your preferred facial hair is to have no facial hair, whiskers will start to grow regardless if hair growth is enabled - and the same goes for all other types of body hair.

The time that body hair takes to grow back will change from Sim to Sim, and it's likely that, each in-game hour, your Sim's body hair has a chance to grow a bit. The process to get it back to full thickness can take anywhere from just a couple of hours to a few days.

2 Hair Growth Is Random

It seems that hair growth is completely random. When your Sim hits puberty and start experiencing this avalanche of changes, they'll begin to develop body hair, and it's completely at random where or when this happens.

Even twins have different body hair in The Sims 4 body hair update, and the differences extends from head to toe. If you'd like your Sims to look a certain way, you'll need to head into Create-a-Sim to make it so.

1 Shaving Moodlet

With the addition of shaving in the Sims 4 body hair update, a shaving-related moodlet has been added in tandem. If a Sim has a narrow miss with shaving, they'll receive the "Cutting It Close" moodlet that adds a +1 Uncomfortable moodlet that lasts a few hours.

The description for the moodlet reads, "Every Sim struggles with the occasional nicks and cuts from shaving," which anyone who shaves any part of their body knows isn't far from the real-life truth.
