Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has been hard at work on his next game Haunted Chocolatier for quite a while now, but recently announced that he'll be taking a break to make one last update for his popular farming sim. In this announcement, Barone claimed that Update 1.6 will be mainly to make it easier for modders to add their own content, yet Barone may be about to add something himself that fans have been wanting for a long time, and a new tease has sent the entire fanbase into a frenzy.

All it took was two words from Barone to make Stardew Valley fans go wild, those being "iridium sycthe". That was the only thing that he tweeted out via his personal Twitter account, but at the time of writing, it's managed to amass well over 40k likes and over 4,000 retweets. There are also thousands of replies that include a whole lot of fans extremely excited that an iridium scythe might be added to Stardew Valley in the next update (thanks GamesRadar).

"FINALLY ALL PURPLE", exclaims one user, clearly excited that they'll soon be able to flaunt a matching set of purple farm tools. "ALL. PURPLE. TOOLS.", shouts another, very much driving home the reason why so many fans are itching to grab an iridium scythe to replace their gold one.

Others are a little more reserved in their excitement, wondering if the increase in quality means that there's going to be an increased chance of finding hay when cutting grass. However, the vast majority of people would be perfectly happy if there were absolutely zero gameplay benefits to the iridium scythe at all, instead thrilled that there's now a chance that their inventories will now look a little bit more uniform.

Of course, nothing that Barone has said has confirmed that an iridium scythe is going to make its way into Stardew Valley, but it would be extremely cruel of him to tweet this out and then leave everyone waiting after it's been requested for so long. In fact, we know it's been requested for at least five years at this point, as Reddit threads about it from fans way back in 2018 can still be found to this day.

As for when we can expect this new scythe to drop, we'll probably get our hands on it after Update 1.6 releases, although Barone hasn't specified when this will go live. Given that he's hyping up Stardew Valley fans like this, it's safe to assume it'll be sooner rather than later.
